"The Heathers" by Pegasus Players Theater Group | Find a Second Family
By Tatum Laliberte
Reflecting on my ongoing journey with Pegasus Players, I've discovered a profound sense of connection and acceptance that I haven't experienced elsewhere on campus. Within the vibrant community of Pegasus, I found a place where my unique talents and perspectives were not only welcomed but celebrated. It's a space where I feel understood, supported, and valued.
Growing up immersed in theater, joining Pegasus Players felt like a natural fit for me. Little did I know then that this decision would lead me to a place where I could explore, grow, and find a second family.
Neil Simon's "Rumors" was the production that welcomed me into the fold. Landing the role of Officer Putney and the joy of being part of such a vibrant community was overwhelming. Pegasus was more than just a theater group; it was a tightly-knit family. Witnessing the seniors bid farewell as they graduated only reinforced the bond that held us together. Pegasus Players exemplifies the power of diversity and collaboration in the arts, reminding us that true magic happens when we come together as a community, united by our love for the stage.
"Returning to Pegasus and auditioning for "Heathers" felt like a homecoming for me. The familiar faces and the welcoming atmosphere of the theater group provided a sense of belonging that I had missed during my time away."
I was away from Pegasus for a year and a half, primarily due to personal reasons. I needed time to focus on other aspects of my life, dealing with personal challenges as well as pursuing different opportunities. But when the opportunity arose to return to Pegasus, I knew it was time to come back to what I loved.
Returning to Pegasus and auditioning for "Heathers" felt like a homecoming for me. The familiar faces and the welcoming atmosphere of the
theater group provided a sense of belonging that I had missed during my time away. The infusion of new faces added a sense of excitement and rejuvenation to the community, creating a dynamic blend of continuity and fresh energy. My return to Pegasus and involvement in "Heathers" symbolized a reconnection with my passion for theater and a reaffirmation of the inclusive and supportive community that Pegasus represents.
This production focused on its socially relevant themes and provided a platform for meaningful discussions. As we navigated through heavy subjects with professionalism and empathy, Pegasus became more than just a theater group; it became a place where we learned to respect each other's boundaries and support one another's well-being.
"It's a space where I feel understood, supported, and valued. Where I can truly be myself without fear of judgment. This sense of belonging has enriched my life in countless ways. There's a place for you in this magical community whether you are a seasoned performer or a newcomer."
