Innovators of Norwich: Building a Nation

Sullivan Museum and History Center

August 31, 2018 – December 21, 2018

Opening Reception
August 31, 2018
4–6 pm

The Norwich University Sullivan Museum and History Center presents “Innovators of Norwich: Building a Nation,” the second exhibition in a two-part series, with an opening reception Friday, Aug. 31, from 4 – 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served during the opening reception.

With so many innovative contributions made to the world by Norwich alumni, the Sullivan Museum and History Center needed two exhibits to feature the most compelling stories. This exhibition focuses on advances in railroad engineering, science, architecture, and infrastructure. Highlighted will be the contributions made by Russell Porter (NU 1891), Edward Dean Adams (NU 1864), William Rutherford Meade (NU 1864), and Grenville Dodge (NU 1851).

In addition, past and present innovative projects produced in Norwich University’s Design Build program–which combines students and faculty in architecture, construction management, civil engineering, and business management–will be featured. Come learn about the award-winning Delta T-90 solar house, the WheelPad, and CASA802 tiny houses, among other fascinating innovations.

This exhibition will remain on display until December 21, 2018.

The state’s only Smithsonian Affiliate, the Sullivan Museum and History Center features permanent exhibitions and changing exhibitions. The museum is free and open to the public Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Saturdays between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. (during the academic year), excluding holidays. Learn more.
