Colm Walker '05

What do you do when the plan fails? Or the mission ends? Or the structure disappears?

Colm Walker '05 is a distinguished Army veteran, accomplished sailor, and dedicated advocate for veteran mental health. A former Captain in the 82nd Airborne Division, Colm served in combat during Operation Enduring Freedom, experiencing firsthand the challenges of leadership, high-stakes decision-making, and resilience under fire. A lifelong adventurer, Colm is currently preparing for the 2026 Golden Globe Race, a solo, nonstop circumnavigation of the globe—one of the most grueling sailing challenges in the world.

Drawing from his experiences in combat, injury recovery, leadership, and extreme endurance, Colm’s talk will explore resilience, mental health, and overcoming when the plan falls apart, offering personal insights and practical strategies. “You are not broken… you are evolving.”
