Life in Northfield
“Where the Good Life Begins,” is the motto of Northfield, Vermont. Chartered in 1781, the town of Northfield lies on the eastern side of the Green Mountains, about a 15 minute drive from the state capital, Montpelier, and about an hour away from Vermont’s largest city, Burlington. Boston and Montreal are 3 hours away, and Vermont’s well-known ski slopes are within easy reach in nearly any direction.
Since 1866, Northfield has been the home-away-from-home over the decades for thousands of students who came to Norwich University to be part of a learning community that is “American in character yet global in perspective” (from the Norwich University Vision Statement). As such, Northfield is the location from which students return to their home states or their home countries and “life begins” for them in their new pursuits and endeavors.
