Chaos & Conflict:
National Security Challenges
in 2009 and Beyond
As America remains divided at home, its economy at risk, a dangerous instability is ascendant throughout the rest of the world.
While we remain engaged in two conflicts with unforeseeable ends, near-term threats loom, from domestic terrorism, the newly assertive postures of Iran and North Korea, a resurgent Russia, and failed states such as Somalia, Afghanistan, and Zimbabwe.
Where does the national interest lie?
And how should our leaders tailor our military and national security strategy to advance it?
In the years ahead, Norwich men and women will face unprecedented challenges, and these are the critical issues that the 2009 Colby Symposium will address.
The March 2009 Colby Symposium, scheduled for March 26–27 at Norwich University in Northfield, Vt., features symposium founder Carlo D’Este and guests Joseph L. Galloway, James Hornfischer, 2008 Colby award winner R. Alan King, Donald L. Miller, and Douglas A. Macgregor. Hornfischer will also moderate a panel featuring guests at the general session.
