Brian Juskiewicz
Lifestyle: Corps of Cadets
Majors: mathematics, electrical engineering
Brian Juskiewicz speaks with a confidence not often found in the twenty-year old population. Whether this is borne of growing up in a Navy family or is just an innate ability that he possesses matters not, because for Juskiewicz it has allowed him to constantly move forward without looking back.
I have no regrets,” Juskiewicz said. “It’s exhilarating. I came to Norwich not knowing exactly what to expect, and although I had an idea of what NU was about from my visit and the mailings I received, I never really thought I’d fit in to the extent that I do.

“I had a few options [for college] but Norwich fit me the best,” Juskiewicz said. “The first time I visited was during my sophomore year in high school, which is much earlier than most kids visit colleges. But during that visit I realized that the whole Corps of Cadets life just appealed to me very much.”
That first visit, Juskiewicz said, sealed the deal. Despite a strong chance for acceptance at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI), the double-major Cadet said he didn’t even apply to VMI because he knew he wanted to study at Norwich. And he hasn’t looked back since.
“I have no regrets,” Juskiewicz said. “It’s exhilarating. I came to Norwich not knowing exactly what to expect, and although I had an idea of what NU was about from my visit and the mailings I received, I never really thought I’d fit in to the extent that I do.”
And fit in he has. Juskiewicz is now serving as the Second Battalion’s Command Sergeant Major, an honor he considers the greatest to be bestowed upon junior cadets at Norwich. As for the future, Juskiewicz speaks with the same confidence that he approaches everything else with, stating that he’ll pursue graduate work and enter into the Navy, but not particularly in that order.
“Either way, I’m going to be a submariner,” he said. “It’s just a matter of whether I get my graduate degree before or after that.”
