Making of meaning and meaning of making
The Norwich University School of Architecture and Art is comprised of faculty teaching in Architecture, Art History, and Studio Art. The Dean of the School of Architecture and Art is Professor Art Schaller; the Architecture Program Director is Kirsten van Aalst.
Degree programs within the School of Architecture and Art are comprised of the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (pre-professional track) and a Master of Architecture (NAAB-accredited). Minors are offered in both Architecture and Art.
The curriculum of the Architecture Program reflects the University’s ideals, to develop citizens with integrity, conviction, and self-respect, educated and motivated to be leaders in service to the community. Within the program, experiential learning goes beyond merely developing skills. Reflection is half of this kind of learning process. We are concerned with all the dimensions of making and meaning.
I’m always shocked when I meet other architecture graduates from other programs that haven’t had the challenging and rewarding experience that I had at Norwich.
