Uniform Issue, Purchase and Allowances

1. Issue & Purchase: The Uniform Store is the only authorized source for the purchase of uniforms and accessories by members of the Vermont State Militia (faculty and staff). Exceptions to this policy must be submitted in writing to the Deputy Commandant.

2. Allowances: At the beginning of the third year of service and for each year thereafter, members of the VSM are authorized to begin replacing authorized uniform items due to fair wear and tear at the Uniform Store. The previous allowance of $120 beginning after the third year of service and continuing each year thereafter has been eliminated due to its cumbersome nature and increasing uniform costs. Members of the VSM are expected to maintain their uniforms in a neat, clean, and properly fitting manner. The University will replace, free of charge, in a direct exchange (DX) manner, items that present an unprofessional appearance due to fair wear and tear.
