Norwich students enjoy nightlife choices in Vermont, New HampshireBy Jessielynn Bagnas After a long week of classes, labs, exams, and homework, students are looking for something fun to do to in order to unwind and relax. It usually comes down to two options: stay on campus and enjoy the activities that are provided by the school, or go out of town and see what areas nearby have to offer for fun and excitement. Many students opt for the second choice once the weekend rolls around and choose to explore cities near the school. Burlington is usually a good place to find something to do, said Paul Mitchell, 21, a history major from Grants Pass, Ore. Millennium has a good dance scene most of the time. Millennium is a club on Church Street in Burlington, which gives the under-21 population a dance spot. I like Millennium, because it is the only club around Burlington that allows people under 21 in, and they always play good music, said Kate Drummey, 21, a communications major from Norwood, Mass. Some of my friends are not 21, so its cool to have a place to hang out for everyone and not leave anybody out. For those over 21 years old, Rasputins is a popular choice, and it is next door to Millennium. I like going to Rasputins when Im in Burlington. They have the bar, pool tables, and a good dance floor, said Razy Molina, 21, a business management major from Roswell, N.M. Another attraction near Millennium and Rasputins is Manhattan Pizza, which is a bar and restaurant combination. I like going to Manhattan Pizza, because they have karaoke night, so you can eat some pizza and then do your thing on the mic, Molina said. Then, after singing, you can go down the street and dance if you want to. All these attractions are located on Burlingtons famous Church Street, which also offers an array of restaurants and stores for shopping enthusiasts. For those looking for fun outside of Vermont, another club students enjoy going to is Electra, a club located in Lebanon, NH. Many students travel to Electra for the special nights that they have, such as ladies night and college nights, which allow students entrance for a minimal price. Electra is always a good choice, because lots of people go there, and they play some good music, Mitchell said. They also have the catwalk for the women to dance on, which is a good bonus. Electra also doubles as a bar and restaurant with the Benning Street Bar and Grill adjacent to the club. The nightclub is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Electra also has special Sunday nights substance-free dance parties for those under 20 years old from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. |
