Jazz vibraphonist performs for NU audience

Lalo, an internationally-known vibraphonist, came to Norwich to perform for students on Feb. 14 in the Mill.

Her sounds could be heard all over campus.

Lalo combines traditional jazz with world music influences and puts a modern twist on it. Her sounds have gotten her a lot of recognition as a jazz player. Lalo has been featured on National Public Radio (NPR).

Lalo started her career early and was performing by the time she was in high school. After high school, she went to Berkeley College of Music, where she furthered her studies and honed her skills. During her time at Berkeley, she traveled through the United States and Europe as a performer.

Lately, she has been doing many college performances as well as music festivals in Savannah and Hartford. Her performance was great and was greatly enjoyed by the hundred or so faculty and students in attendance. Lalo will perform April 15 at Saint Michael's College.

The Norwich Guidon is a twice-monthly student newspaper distributed at Norwich University. It provides laboratory experience for students in the Communications program.
