Career Corner

It's your future we're talking about....

Attention Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors yes, Everyone!!

  1. Are you unsure about what you should study at Norwich?
  2. Are you getting pressure to declare your major but you don't know what to say?
  3. Do you know you have to find a job but don't know what you want to do?
  4. Do you want to make sure you will enjoy and learn from your first "real job?"

The Career Development Center can help you find answers to all of those questions, and lots of others, too! The Career Development Center offers loads of ways to get you started on your career path.

Here are just a few:
  • SIGIPLUS - Fun and easy to use, is a self-directed, computerized career guidance system which can help you answer all four of the questions above! It can be used to identify one's interests, skills and values and match them to occupations.
  • CAREER SEARCH - a database of over 1,000,000 companies nationwide that allows the user to search for potential employers based on industry, occupation and geographical location.
  • CAREER FAIRS - are offered three times per year in various fields. The Engineering and Architecture Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, November 5. The General Career Fair will take place on Thursday, February 5, and the Criminal Justice Career Fair is set for Thursday, April 8. All career fairs are open to all Norwich students, regardless of class year or major. Remember; even if it's the Engineering and Architecture Career Fair, those companies also hire accountants, public relations people, and so on.

If you could use some help getting started on the "path to your future," stop by the Career Development Center on the top floor of Harmon Hall, call us at 485-2125, or careers@norwich.edu.
