The President's Corner

Over the last several years we have discussed the benefit of extending the winter break by adding a week of additional vacation for our students. This would give us more time to process grades and to provide academic advisement to those students who need it the most.

This has been an item of concern by the University Calendar Committee for some time, but we have not been able to implement it due to financial constraints. Extending the winter break creates additional operating costs due to the need to house and feed athletic teams, increased utility costs, and higher contractors' costs, since we will have one less week to work on summer renovation projects.

I am very pleased to announce that we have been able to make the provisions in the next fiscal year to fund the additional cost to have the school open a week longer in May. Listed below are the primary changes in the calendar. For our Juniors, please pay particular attention to the change in the DATE OF GRADUATION. It is one week later. Enjoy the extra time off!!!
